our King and Lawgiver,
the one awaited by the gentiles,
and their Savior:
come to save us,
Lord our God.
Isaiah7:14 “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.
Isaiah 8:8 He will pass through Judah, he will overflow and pass over, he will reach up to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings will fill the breadth of Your land, O Immanuel.
Matthew 1:23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
Haggai 2:7 ‘and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the LORD of hosts.
Friends of ours who are volunteer missionaries in Mexico just had their first baby. Emma Izabella is her name. The long awaited one.
It is winter and tonight the trees and ground are coated in thick ice. It is beautiful and shimmery. Yet I await spring, even now. As the end of March arrives, I will start to walk the garden perimeter, looking for, seeking the first shoot to show its little head, the first bud on the rose bush.
Just as my missionary friends waited for Emma, just as I seek the first shoot, so do we all wait for the Nativity and seek for the sign of a Virgin giving birth to the Son.
Wait. Seek. Be patient. He will come.
