Desert Reading…or should that be Dessert Reading

Elizabeth has created a meme! Woot! David did it. I’m not sure who else. But since Elizabeth is tallying the results, I’ll dive in too. However, let it be said I want to be shipwrecked with David and Elizabeth so we can share our books!

What ten specifically Orthodox and/or general Christian books would you take to your desert island ? We will allow one copy of the Bible as well as the ten books.

1)My Orthodox Study Bible
1a) One copy of another translation of the Bible which includes the Apocrypha.
2)The Communion of Love by Matthew the Poor
3)The Philokalia Volume IV
4)The Art of Prayer by Igumen Chariton of Valamos
5)Devotional Classics Edited by Richard J. Foster and James Bryan Smith
6)Great Lent: A Journey to Pascha by Fr. Alexander Schmemann
7)How Long O Lord? by D. A. Carson
8)The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis
9)Reflections on the Psalms by C. S. Lewis
10)Christ in His Saints by Fr. P. H. Reardon

There will be no tagging, thus anyone else who wants to dive in, please do so. If you, dear reader are not Orthodox, dive in anyway and post your favoriate Christian books that you would want to take to your desert island.

Me thinks we may need to start a meme about ANY books you’d want to take on a desert island. That could be very interesting. If that were the case, I’d definitely take Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I love that book.
