Western North Carolina

It’s been a couple years since the hubster and I were in North Carolina. At that time it was the eastern shore where we lived. Now it is the western side where we are sightseeing.

Yesterday we drove to the hubster’s parent’s house to celebrate at the Strawberry Fesitival. There is nothing more delicious that fresh strawberries over fresh baked shortcake. Yum! We enjoyed their company and laughter.

This morning we breakfasted at Perkins where I enjoyed buttermilk pancakes and fresh fruit. After saying our good-byes, we started the long drive to Hickory.

We landed in Hickory about dinner time. I was glad to get out of the car. Six hours of motion just did me in!

Tomorrow we plan on enjoying the furniture shopping and browsing which we will do tomorrow. We’ve been here before and look forward to exploring the same places again. Perhaps we’ll find something new. We hope to find something for our living room.

Then later in the afternoon we’ll head on to Asheville, NC. We have a full agenda and hope to take a train ride through the mountains, visit the Biltmore Estate, and browse the shops in downtown Asheville. And if I get lucky enough, I’ll find the shoe outlet!! Woot!

More on another day.

  1. We came through there a few years back. Visited Blowing Rock, where Jan Karon wrote her Mitford books.

  2. Good for you — sounds lovely and relaxing (except, of course, for the 6-hour car ride). Hope you find your living room. 😉

  3. Lovely! My SIL and family used to live in Brevard many years ago. We always loved visiting Western NC.
