Merry Christmas!

Since today was going to be a travel day to the in-laws, we opened gifts last night, Christmas Eve.  Always an enjoyable tradition, the hubster (Papa Bear) read T’was the Night Before Christmas and the Birth of Christ from the Gospel of St. Luke.  After that, beginning with the youngest, gift opening ensued.  After that the next oldest opened one gift, etc. until all were complete. Everyone was very pleased with their gifts.

DD and I gave Papa Bear a Shiatsu heat massager similar to this one but at a better price.  He really likes it and it works pretty well.  DS got Papa Bear the 2007 Red Sox series on DVD. Another excellent gift.

DD gave me a wonderful recipe book for those who have the same food allergies I do.  Now I can make homemade chocolate cake!  Yay!  DS gave me a gift certificate to the local health foodstore and a pair of black leather cashmere lined dress gloves.  Papa Bear gave me a new printer (!), a pair of warm winter gloves, and a really cool thermometer that reads indoor and outdoor temps to name a few gifts.

This morning we awoke, breakfasted and loaded up the car with ourselves and Christmas dinner, which we cooked yesterday, and headed to the in-laws apartment.  There we spread the table with a beautiful red and white lace tablecloth and laid out all the pre-prepared dinner items.  We feasted on turkey, gravy, steamed broccoli, cranberry relish, candied yams, spring mix salad, buttered noodles with scallions and pumpkin pie for dessert.  All of these delectables were served on the most beautiful china you could ever see.  It belonged to my mother-in-law’s mother.  To drink coffee from such fine china was a delight.  I’m so glad she shared them with us.

The pumpkin pie (my first ever pie attempt) was delicious!  It met the in-law taste test with great approval.   :o)

In all, a good day.

Ooooh, pumpkin pie! Congratulations. It sounds like you needed to be where you were, and God knows that. Hugs
