We attended the celebration of our friends who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. On this very day, in the very same chapel, they renewed the vows they exchanged 50 years ago. Can you imagine that? Their love for one another is a vibrant and alive as it was then, perhaps more so. They enjoy one another and the life around them.
Following the service, we adjourned to continue the celebration with food, wine, soda and continued laughter. Their flower girl and junior bridesmaid, albeit all grown up, were in attendance and spoke about the bride and groom then and now.
As part of the celebration, their friends who have marked significant anniversaries were acknowledged. The longest marriage? 65 years and going strong! One does not have many opportunities to celebrate such a wonderful long love. There were quite a few couples who celebrated 47, 50 and 55 years of wedded bliss. The Hubster and I will celebrate 29 years this August 18.
In a world of instant gratification and short attention spans, it was wonderful to share in such “length of days.”
May it be blessed!
