We’ve been in West Virginia for the last couple of days on a fact-finding mission (more on that later). On the long and twisting roads, we saw these very strange objects along the side of the road.

At first I thought a truck carrying tennis balls had lost part of their load. Then I saw them hanging from a tree! What the heck?

A quick google proved them to be hedgeapples, also known as osage oranges. They are an inedible fruit with a thick skin that looks like a brain. Yuck. Apparently squirrels eat them. They are the size of a softball and quite heavy. I must say, they are very strange looking!

Everyday I learn something new.
